Intentional Living Begins with Small Step
December 30, 2014
Change is difficult. It requires movement. Would you agree? Hold that thought.
Yes it's true. People frequently ask my secret for the positive changes they see me making in my life, in my career, in my company.
I struggled to conquer the major change I wanted to make, until one day I realized that ONE new step in a positive direction seems more like TWO steps toward desired change. One more time: ONE new step in a positive direction is more like TWO steps toward desired change.
Now we all know in some circumstances, revolutionary change is required. However, most situations can be greatly impacted with just one small step. This works for both individuals and organizations.
Intentional living IS about taking one small step…then another...then another.
The New Year is a wonderful time to examine your life. Be intentional about selecting something to change. Then, choose which small step you are going to take.
Stay encouraged! Consider the toddler and the persistent courage and incredible strength they demonstrate in learning how to walk. Like them, we will experience falls, we may get bumps, bruises, etc. But it's okay. Just get up!
When asked who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, Jesus answer “…unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Perhaps there is more in his words then we realize.
My small steps this year, which have positively impacted quality of life, have been about achieving a healthier lifestyle. As I contemplate my intentional life for 2015, I will continue on the path I began in 2014.
It's a new year! Decide what small step you want to take, then step into 2015!
Next post: Discover what comes after the small steps.
I think you'll be quite surprised!
Praying for my new friends and their small step!
Ready, set, GO!
